About US

An organisation and a movement committed to bridging divides inside and out and developing purpose aligned organizations and leaders

Why this..Why now..Why us?

“We don’t solve problems, problems solve us” ~ Sorabh G

Kabila chooses to work with the problem of separation and divides and the catastrophic impact, this mindset is having in how we relate with our planet, our families our societies, our  customers, and our own selves. This old story of separation, of ‘otherness’,  needs to change to one of integration.

There are many ways it is being done. We are choosing, working with organizations serve their soul purpose, as a way to address this challenge. Because this is one place where living, love, learning and livelihood all come together.

How do we intend to do this?

Confluence of Quantum Physics and Design Thinking

In working with organizations and leaders for over 2 decades, the fundamental paradox: How come we have a constant shortage of good leadership when so many organizations are investing so much in developing leaders?, continues to baffle me.

Who, a leader is when by himself/herself is very different from who he/she is when in a team. The dynamics of a group are very different. It is no longer a simple cause and effect relationship. Our sense is, we may be looking for leadership in a relatively narrow, linear and Newtonian perspective. There are multiple realities and universes present in a single encounter between a leader and the team.

The Solutions offered in developing Leaders and organization quite often takes a linear, Newtonian, cause-effect approach, which may be part of the problem.

Maybe the not so secret perspective, is a quantum view, where certainty and possibility for anything different, new, exists simultaneously. Poetically speaking it is the field beyond the right and the wrong that rumi talks about.

Where leadership, teams, clients, other stakeholders, organization, governments are not seen as separate parts but as a connected whole. The whole is bigger than the sum of parts.

The Implicate Order proposed by David Bohm (theoretical physicist) , talks of an implicate order of unity throughout the Universe, nothing is separate unless observed and acknowledged as being separate and therefore creating that separate reality. Everything in the Universe is governed by certain laws and relationships and it is alive and communicating at all times on different frequencies that you can be at according with the vibrational tone you get to send out.

Our attempt is to bring, this ‘unknown’, unconscious implicate order and the ‘known’ realities of the organizations, leaders and teams, to the surface and apply the insights in workable ways though application of design thinking.

The crumbling of the old story..and movement to the New

The 3 divides and their Impact on organizations

At the time in history we are in, we may just need a shift in perspective from the small now to the big Now.

The manifestation of this view has led us to some worldviews or contexts. We each have a story about who we are, and what the world is. This story becomes our lived context and informs us, our relationships, our thinking, our feeling and our behaviour, toward ourselves and the world. We have become prisoners of our own beliefs. And we are collectively creating results that we individually do not want.

If we take any challenge, personal, organizational, group – three layers below it invariably melts into one of the three divides. The three major divides which we are experiencing as a result of the old story or the continued inertia of belief in it.

We are living in a context of change. The world is changing and at a rapid pace. One thing we know that is certain in the process of any change, is that, change causes disintegration (of the way things/people were) . It’s natural, but not obvious. And there also is the unconscious need for us to keep integrating, keep becoming whole (The gestalt principle) and keep on trying to bridge the divides, within and outside.

The three major divides which we experience as a result of the old story or the continued inertia of belief in it.

In the last three hundred years the natural and social sciences have led us to see ourselves as separate, divided, selfish, utility maximizing individuals, existentially alone, and competing with the ‘other’. And focussing on ‘survival’ of the fittest – (Darwin must have turned in his grave). Such a narrative has a long and distinguished pedigree in Newtonian physics, Cartesian dualism, the biological evolution of Darwinism. And yet while all these have served some purposes, they have succeeded in driving the three major divides of our time in the world deeper. (ref. to the Theory U by Otto Scharmer)

3 divides

The Ecological divide

View

The view that we are separate from nature has caused us to treat the natural resources as a right and have an uncaring attitude toward what happens to the rest in the larger context. This is true even at an everyday reality of business as well. We treat the ‘context’ – globalization, interdependence, digitalization as something separate. Not able to connect the dots from individual behaviour to see how we are participating in creation of this bigger picture.

Impact

A sense of overwhelm and the constant reference to VUCA (Volatile – Uncertain-Complex-Ambiguous). Wanting to ‘insulate’ oneself from this world leading to non agile leaders and teams. Impacting response time and speed of change, innovation and business growth A sense of being lost without meaning or purpose.

View

While on one hand we are becoming a global village and networking, we are increasingly getting distanced from the people around us. Social media has not really helped the cause. The psychological imperative of “need to be belong and be connected”, which is being exploited, remains largely unanswered. High degree of separation and people feeling that they do not belong and therefore resorting to paying a high membership fee to want to belong. Sometimes this fee shows up as lack of integrity and authenticity.

Impact

In the business world this is resulting in the breakdown in communication across verticals and horizontal boundaries, need for safety going up affecting authentic communication, trust deficits, people working in silos with not enough empathy for various stakeholders and lack of alignment and collaboration.

The Social Divide

The Spiritual Divide

View

While the ecological divide is based on a disconnect between self and environment and various different contexts, and the social divide a disconnect between self and others, the spiritual divide reflects a disconnect between self and Self—that is, between my current “self” and the future “Self”. Added to that the complexities of many different parts of us that got left behind (while growing up), which also keep playing up and holding us back from who we can be, our greatest potential.

Impact

This divide is manifesting in rapidly growing figures on burnout and depression. World health organization declared the theme for 2017 as mental health. Research by an international health insurer, reveals that 64% of senior business leaders have suffered from mental health conditions including anxiety, stress and depression, with work often cited as a contributor to this. This divide is real and personal.
